A Blue Ribbon is the international symbol for Child Abuse Prevention. The color blue was chosen to represent the bruises and harm that abuse inflicts on thousands of children every day. It serves as a constant reminder that all of us have a responsibility to help keep children safe. Wear a blue ribbon throughout the month of April to increase awareness. Help stop the silence. Please talk about abuse and ways to prevent it with someone in your family or neighborhood. Attend a community awareness event.
Sunday, April 14th : Stand Up Ohio—Free Family Fun Festival. 11-6pm at Sharon Woods –Lone Oak Meadow Shelter. Child focused activities, games, music and entertainment. Free food and drinks.
Celebrate Children-Stand Against Abuse. ‘The Innocence Revolution: A Global Day to End Child Sexual Abuse” event.
Saturday, April 20th, Blue Ribbon 5K Race and Family Fun Walk. A family event hosted at Northern Kentucky University. Online registration at www.familynurture.org or call 859-525-3200 for more information. Join with others to promote prevention and awareness. Walk with other VOTF friends and supporters on the "I am a Voice" team.
Thursday, April 25th- Stewards of Children, an adult education program of Darkness to Light will be offered from 6-9:15pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 8720 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati. Call Kathy Weyer at 231-4752 for details, registration or questions. All adults who care about the safety of our children are encouraged to attend and learn about the issues.

April 22nd, Blue Sunday. A time for all church communities to speak to the topic of child abuse and ways to prevent it. Ask your pastor to lead your congregation in prayer for the protection of children and healing for those harmed by abuse. Blue is the symbol for child abuse awareness—a reference to the bruises of abuse that so many children suffer.
